Dear Parents,
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our “Little Senators” Reading Program, an exciting and educational adventure designed especially for our K-5 students! This year, we invite you and your family to embark on a literary journey that will ignite imaginations and foster a lifelong love of reading.
Program Kickoff Event
Mark your calendars for the official kickoff event on October 23rd, taking place at the East Dover Early Childhood Center from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This special evening will feature a theme of Fire Prevention, combining fun and learning
Mark your calendars for the official kickoff event on October 23rd, which will be held at the East Dover Early Childhood Center from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This exciting evening will revolve around the theme of Fire Prevention, blending enjoyment with valuable learning. Author Richard Flood will be jining us to read from his children’s book “Nico: A Tale of Firefighting Safety…Fire Safety for Kids, sharing an engaging story that helps children understand the importance of fire safety in a fun and memorable way. In addition, the Dover Fire Department will be on-site with a real fire truck, giving children the chance to meet local firefighters and learn firsthand about staying safe in emergency situations.
Event Highlights
Each month, you will have the opportunity to visit a new elementary school or early childhood center, to allow your child a chance to listen to a brand-new story and then join in on a fun STEAM activity. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. These activities give your child a chance to be creative, explore new ideas, and work together while learning. By connecting the story to hands-on projects, children can discover how the things they read about can come to life in exciting and memorable ways.
Embark on Your Reading Adventure!
Get ready to start your reading journey! You will be given a READING PASSPORT to fill with stamps throughout the year as you explore each new destination while participating in our “Little Senators” program.
Your Mission:
Aim to collect at least 5 stamps by:
• Engaging in our special events
• Completing thrilling reading challenges!
• Joining the fun activities
The more stamps you earn, the larger your adventure becomes! Each stamp serves as a badge of honor, showcasing how far you've traveled on your reading quest.
Participation Prize
At the end of the year, children who collect all the required stamps in their Reading Passport will earn a special participation prize! This prize is a fun way to celebrate your child’s hard work, commitment, and love of reading. It also encourages children to keep building healthy reading habits and to continue exploring the wonderful world of books long after the program ends.
